My Interview with Envoy Medical CEO Brent Lucas

I recently sat down with Brent Lucas, CEO of Envoy Medical, to talk about what it’s really like to live with the Envoy Medical Acclaim®, the world’s first fully implanted cochlear implant. The full interview is now live: https://www.envoymedical.com/acclaim-cochlear-implant

This isn’t just a cochlear implant. It’s a breakthrough. The Acclaim is fully internal. There’s nothing to wear, nothing behind the ear, and nothing visible—even with my head shaved. The small scar behind my earlobe is barely noticeable. It uses the natural anatomy of the ear, leaving the canal open and sound flowing as it was meant to. There’s nothing covering or blocking the ear. Just real sound entering through the natural pathway, processed by the Acclaim and delivered to the brain as electrical signals. It’s remarkably natural in how it works with the body instead of around it. People don’t even know you have it unless you tell them. And tell them, you will—because it will change your life.

Now I can listen to my son Mickey from another room. I can hear while I sleep. I can pick up the phone and have a normal conversation with no captions, no devices, no workaround. I’m a hockey goalie. I live fully and actively. This device lets me live the way I was always meant to.

This isn’t just about hearing loss. It’s about showing what’s possible when you step forward in faith and say yes to something bigger than yourself. I’m telling this story to give people Hope. The world feels heavy right now. So many are struggling, and some are losing that last thread of belief. But I’ve seen what happens when you don’t give up. We need Hope now more than ever. And maybe, just maybe, we need to be willing to be part of that Hope for someone else.

I’m not a celebrity. I’m not wealthy. I’m a single dad just trying to make it–trying to keep the lights on, trying to raise a good kid, and trying to do something meaningful with what I’ve been given. If you believe in what this story stands for—Truth, Courage, Possibility—I hope you’ll watch the interview. And if it moves you, I hope you’ll support what I’m building.

This is more than hearing.
This is what Hope sounds like.
